As a creative person, you tell stories. It's time to take a look at the stories you've been telling yourself. Is there something that has been holding you back? Take a moment to examine that story.
First, write out or think about the current version. What's been holding you down and drowning you in a sea of regret? Did you take bad advice or get yourself into trouble? Did someone give you a bad review and stop you from moving forward?
Do you ever wonder how other people see you? What they think about you when they hear your name or see you pop up on Facebook in a photo?
Depending on how your day is going, you are probably writing their list for them with a mix of good and bad qualities.
Recently, I was challenged to do an exercise to discover what people think of me. I would love to see how it goes for you.
Here's how it works:
Make your list.
Here are some of mine: when they don’t follow through; when they don’t communicate; when they say one thing and then do the opposite. Old boyfriends who seemed totally content with no ambition… SUPER ANNOYING.
Yikes! Didn’t expect to see such a negative blog from me, did you?
Bad news: What you despise in others is often what you most dislike about yourself.
